How it all began ... by Cheryl Schalkham

The DEBBIE KRUCK CLASSIC started 13 years ago after a" head on collision" rendered Debbie unable to walk as well as putting an end to her career in fitness competitions. That same year her good friend Frank Dalto, the promoter of the NPC National Wheelchair Bodybuilding Championships mentioned he was tapped out of funds and unable to sponsor two athletes for the competition. Debbie took the money she would have used for her competition and sponsored those two athletes herself. One, a girl named Tamara and another a man from Oregon who had lost 100lbs for the competition. At Tamara's insistence Debbie arrived at the show crutches and all. "Thank you for sponsoring me" Tamara said.  " No, thank you Tamara for giving me perspective!" Thus the DEBBIE KRUCK CLASSIC came into existence. Since then  every year 100% of the proceeds from the classic have been donated to the NPCC

National Wheelchair Bodybuilding Championships enabling more wheelchair athletes to compete.  Her show has continued to grow producing  over 25 pros in the past thirteen years. The "boys and girls clubs" as well as other youth organizations are invited as "special guests"  giving kids the opportunity to attend a professional athletic event that is not only fun but will help motivate and inspire them in the future.
